UNFOLDED/REFOLDING/FOLDED PODCAST

The Unfolding | Folded | Refolding podcast followed two forms of material culture kwaXhosa; iqhiya and ifasikoti in a journey along the local threads of history, culture and fashion. Produced by Siviwe James, each co-authored episode offers listeners intimate encounters with everyday Africans who are knowledge-makers and archivists. Through a conceptual blending (folding and unfolding) of languages, locations, and aesthetics, the podcast presents alternate knowledges, languages, and creative routes to other fashion genealogies. This included the collaboration with Art Meets App that digitally maps and connects artists; a research and development agency for emerging African creatives; galleries, designers, residency spaces, educational institutions, media platforms; as well as many inspiring individuals.
