Processes & Practice

Process & Practice

Talk Series has seen us hosting fashion researchers Thulile Gamedze, Carmen Hogg and Linda Valkeman, curators Renee van de Hoek and JHB-based designer Wanda Lephoto, and cultural entrepreneurs Collen Shoko, Tsidi Ramafolo and Mohammed Lamin Ismaila.

Researchers, curators, writers and designers share their work in our in-person Talks Series: Process & Practice dedicated to promoting afrocentric debate and centring voices and histories from the African continent and its diaspora. Our workshops and talks tap into politics, culture, memory praxis and the shifting powers of fashion.

African Fashion Films Series

Our African Fashion Films Programme aims to contribute critical discourse towards fashion films across the African continent and its diaspora.

Selected fashion thinkers, designers, artists and film directors are invited to participate in a panel discussion, convened by the African Fashion Research Institute in response to a series of short fashion-focused experimental and/or commercial fashion films.
